This week, as the sixth part of an ongoing series of articles, the ACF is highlighting one grant recipient, Project Hope and their Stillwater Backpack Program. The mission of the Stillwater Backpack Program is to reduce the number of Stillwater County children who struggle with hunger.
Every penny collected goes directly back to the program for food to stock backpacks with nutritious single-serving, easy to prepare meals. Twenty five percent of the total backpacks are delivered to Absarokee area schools. In 2017, 113 food packs were provided weekly to students throughout Stillwater County.
Along with the Absarokee Community Foundation, donations from other organizations such as: Town Pump, Yellowstone Bank, First Interstate Bank, Beartooth Ford and numerous private donations make this program possible.
